1918-1920 World Wide Influenza Pandemic
The Swine influenza virus is usually found in pigs, but the virus occasionally mutates and becomes infectious in humans. This flu virus has the potential to spread quickly, and is more difficult to treat than the normal seasonal flu viruses.
Between 1918-1920 a world wide influenza pandemic killed an estimated 30 million -100 million people. This was humanities worst natural disaster of all time, and yet it is largely forgotten. Just when mankind thinks that they have the tiger by the tail, that science is the end all be all, a little bug comes around and puts us back in our place.
This is a great short video on the 1918 influenza pandemic.
