7.2 Magnitude Quake Triggers Tsunami Warning In Japan
(RTTNews) - A Tsunami warning was issued on Wednesday for north-eastern Japan in the wake of a
7.2-magnitude earthquake which jolted the country triggering ocean waves of up to 60-centimeters, reports said.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said the quake struck at around 11:45 a.m local time with its epicenter 430 kilometers north-east of capital Tokyo at a depth of about 10 kilometers below the Pacific seafloor.
Soon after the main tremor, there was
an aftershock of 6.3 magnitude. However, no reports of casualties or damage to property were reported so far.
