Saw this last night on AC 360. Gotta agree with Anderson, why oh why can't these men have MREs or something? Seriously? Crackers and two meals a day?

That is just crazy! How can they possibly continue to work under these conditions?

Workers endure austere conditions in averting nuclear disaster

Tokyo (CNN) -- They sleep anywhere they can find open space -- in conference rooms, corridors, even stairwells. They have one blanket, no pillows and a leaded mat intended to keep radiation at bay.

They eat only two meals each day -- a carefully rationed breakfast of 30 crackers and vegetable juice and for dinner, a ready-to-eat meal or something out of a can. They clean themselves with wet wipes, since the supply of fresh water is short. :evil

These are the grueling living conditions for the workers inside Japan's crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. They've been hailed as heroes risking their lives by braving high levels of radiation as they work to avert a nuclear meltdown.

But until now, the outside world has known little about the workers' routine.

snip

The workers spend three days on site and go off for one. They start their work day at 8 a.m. and go for 12 long hours.

Dr. Michio Kaku says three raging meltdowns under way at Fukushima

Direct quote from Dr. Kaku:

"If it goes to a full-scale evacuation of all personnel, it means that firefighters are no longer putting water onto the cores. That's the only thing preventing a full-scale meltdown at three reactor sites. Once they evacuate, then we past the point of no return. Meltdowns are inevitable at three reactor sites, leading to a tragedy far beyond that of Chernobyl, creating permanent dead zones in Japan."

Japan radiation detected in at least 15 states and in milk samples in Washington state

Radioactive isotopes unique to the Fukushima disaster are now being detected in at least 15 US states, according to recent reports from CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/03/2...). And the Associated Press (AP) has issued a report claiming that milk samples taken in Washington state have tested positive for low levels of the same radioactive component, Iodine-131, raising concerns about the true widespread effects of the Fukushima nuclear fallout

snip

Earlier in the week, several nuclear facilities in North and South Carolina, as well as in Florida, reportedly detected low levels of Iodine-131 in the air (http://www.naturalnews.com/031881_r...). That same radiation has also been detected across the West Coast, as well as in northeastern states like Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, which clearly indicates that Fukushima radiation has made its way throughout the US, at least in very low levels.

snip

As we keep saying here at NaturalNews, preparedness is key. And preparedness, of course, does not involve panic. It does, however, involve using your critical thinking skills to evaluate the seriousness of the situation, consider the anomalies surrounding the official US government position on it, and take appropriate steps to prepare you and your family for whatever may soon come as a result.

Expert: Japan Nuke Disaster Now Worse than Chernobyl
Grant Lawrence--Bodhi Thunder

Professor Christopher Busby says that the Fukushima Nuke disaster is now worse than Chernobyl.

He also says the plant is likely in full meltdown.

"It will finish the North of Japan off," he says.

Quote:
...In Japan, radiation levels in the seawater near the Fukushima plant continue to rise. They're now more than 3.5 thousand times higher than normal. Radioactive material has also been detected in soil at the facility. Japan's government described the situation as serious and unpredictable. Workers have been unsuccessfully trying to restore the plant's cooling system, in what is now the worst atomic crisis since Chernobyl. There's been some debate over whether there are any similarities between the two events. RT talks to Professor Christopher Busby, of the European Committee on Radiation Risks.

Exclusive: WANTED: U.S. workers for crippled Japan nuke plant
ReutersBy Scott DiSavino and David Sheppard | Reuters – 1 hour 20 minutes ago

NEW YORK (Reuters) - As foreign assignments go this must be just about the most dangerous going.

A U.S. recruiter is hiring nuclear power workers in the United States to help Japan gain control of the stricken Fukushima Daiichi plant, which has been spewing radiation.

The qualifications: Skills gained in the nuclear industry, a passport, a family willing to let you go, willingness to work in a radioactive zone.

The rewards: Higher than normal pay and the challenge of solving a major crisis.

Fukushima
A 100-year battle awaits Fukushima while suicide workers are needed to keep up the rescue efforts
Friday, April 01, 2011
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

(NaturalNews) The unfolding of the Fukushima catastrophe continues to worsen. Here are today's most important developments:

• A nuclear expert is now warning that it will take 50 to 100 years before the spent nuclear rods at Fukushima will cool enough to be removed from the site. In the mean time, Japan must keep pouring water on the fuel, and that creates highly radioactive water that's being flushed directly into the ocean. So now we're looking at the possibility of a century-long radiation leak (http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/...).

• The groundwater underneath the Fukushima nuclear power facility is now showing 10,000 times the level of radiation normally allowed by government authorities. This is from iodine-131 measured at 15 meters below one of the reactors. (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011...)

snip

You gotta wonder, of course, how these people (workers being recruited in the US) think they're going to be able to spend all that extra money if they're half-dead from radiation poisoning. But hey, if they get paid one dollar for every millirem of radiation they absorb, they could soon be Fukushima's new millionaires!

• The world's largest concrete pumping truck is headed to Japan as part of a plan that can only be the beginning of the total surrender of Fukushima (http://chronicle.augusta.com/latest...). The only reason you need to pump that much concrete is if you're building a giant Chernobyl-like entombment of the Fukushima facility. But who's going to keep spraying the spent nuclear fuel rods with water in the mean time? (Nobody knows...)

• Due to the failure of Fukushima, Tokyo will be experiencing rolling blackouts all summer long. Tokyo's power has been reduced by roughly 20 percent due to the Fukushima catastrophe (http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/a...).

• Fukushima workers who have been desperately trying to bring the reactors back under control have said they expect to die due to their repeated exposure to extremely high levels of radiation. Oh, but the Fukushima deniers claim radiation is safe and that no one has even been harmed by it! (Seriously...) (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...)

• Remember, health authorities have been screaming for decades that sunlight exposure is potentially deadly because of the radiation exposure. But Fukushima fallout, we're now told, is perfectly safe for you! I guess only the sun is dangerous, not nuclear fuel rod meltdowns. How's that for public health policy?

Post Re: Anotrher 9.0 Earthquake in Japan
"A day late but not a dollar short" - in matters of prayer, positive thoughts, sending light, however you want to phrase it, there is no time, just the ever-present NOW". I found it fascinating that a scientist is requesting prayer - this is where we need to be to prepare for the Transition. Again, Japan is an example for the world, showing where to go, lighting the path. I think this is so important that I am posting the article almost in its entirety.

Japan
Dr. Emoto requests assistance for Japan in the form of prayer and positive intention

(NaturalNews) Dr. Emoto, the scientist famous for documenting and sharing "the memory of water," has put out a global call for assistance with the Fukushima catastrophe in Japan. We're publishing this at NaturalNews because we believe in the power of prayer and positive intention to positively impact both local and distant events. In fact, the scientific evidence on this matter is irrefutable: Conscious intention directed toward the healing of a person, a place or even an entire ocean has a real and measurable impact on the chosen recipient.

Dr. Emoto's Request for Assisting Japan is as follows:

To All People Around the World,

Please send your prayers of love and gratitude to water at the nuclear plants in Fukushima, Japan.

By the massive earthquakes of Magnitude 9 and surreal massive tsunamis, more than 10,000 people are still missing. It has been 16 days already since the disaster happened. What makes it worse is that water at the reactors of Fukushima Nuclear Plants started to leak, and it's contaminating the ocean, air and water molecules of the surrounding areas.

Human wisdom has not been able to do much to solve the problem, but we are only trying to cool down the anger of radioactive materials in the reactors by discharging water to them.

Is there really nothing else to do?

I think there is. During over twenty year research of hado measuring and water crystal photographic technology, I have been witnessing that water can turn positive when it receives pure vibration of human prayer no matter how far away it is.

The energy formula of Albert Einstein, E=MC2 really means that Energy = number of people and the square of people's consciousness.

Now is the time to understand the true meaning. Let us all join the prayer ceremony as fellow citizens of the planet earth.

I would like to ask all people, not just in Japan, but all around the world to please help us to find a way out the crisis of this planet.

The prayer procedure is as follows...

Name of ceremony: "Let's send our thoughts of love and gratitude to all water in the nuclear plants in Fukushima"

Day and Time:
March 31st, 2011 (Thursday)
12:00 noon in each time zone

Please say the following phrase:
Quote:
"The water of Fukushima Nuclear Plant, we are sorry to make you suffer. Please forgive us. We thank you, and we love you."
Please say it aloud or in your mind.

Repeat it three times as you put your hands together in a prayer position. Please offer your sincere prayer.

Thank you!

Please join us in offering this prayer of positive intention

It really doesn't matter if you join in this effort at the exact right time of 12:00 noon. All that matters is that you recognize you are a conscious, sentient being with a powerful vibratory mind that is interconnected with literally every molecule and bit of matter in our entire universe. Then use that power to send a positive prayer to Japan.

All this is not even a new-agey idea, by the way: It's quantum physics straight out of the textbooks being used to teach physics today. They don't say it the same way, but the underlying mathematics are undeniably describing an interconnected universe where the observer is in fact engaged in the creation of the apparent "physical" reality that we experience. Quantum physics also proves the "non-locality" properties of our universe, meaning that one thing can affect another thing in another place instantly -- even faster than the speed of light would seem to indicate was possible.

While conventional scientists might at first scoff at these ideas, remember that they are the ones who caused this nuclear catastrophe in the first place... with their false promises of "safe, clean energy" and bulletproof safety systems. Their arrogance and lack of respect for the awesome power of Mother Nature is precisely what led to this catastrophe. They had their chance and they failed. Now it is up to the rest of us to clean up this mess after the scientists and nuclear physicists have contaminated our world yet again with something that will only cause widespread suffering and death.

We must now engage those elements of reality that conventional science refuses to acknowledge -- the power of the conscious mind and the interconnectedness of all things -- in an effort to bring healing to a region of the world that "science" has left contaminated and nearly destroyed.

Radioactive water leaking into the Pacific

Apr 02, 2011 8:01pm

A JAPANESE nuclear official says highly radioactive water is leaking from a damaged nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean.

Nuclear safety spokesman Hidehiko Nishiyama said the air above the leak contained 1000 millisiverts of radioactivity. Exposure to 500 millisiverts over a short period of time can increase the risk of cancer. The water was seeping from a crack in the containment for a maintenance pit on the edge of the nuclear site. The Fukushima Dai-ichi plant has been spewing radioactivity since it was hit by a tsunami three weeks ago.

Japan Nuclear Crisis: Radioactive Water Leaks Into Sea From Crippled Plant

Image

(AP Photo/Wally Santana)

RIKUZENTAKATA, Japan — Highly radioactive water spilled into the ocean off a tsunami-damaged nuclear power plant Saturday, as Japan's prime minister surveyed the damage in a town gutted by the wave.

The Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex has been spewing radioactivity since March 11, when a magnitude-9.0 earthquake and ensuing wave knocked out power, disabling cooling systems and allowing radiation to seep out of the overheating reactors. Authorities said the leak they identified Saturday could be the source of radioactivity found in coastal waters in recent days.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan went to the plant and flew over the tsunami-ravaged coast soon after the wave hit, but Saturday was the first time he set foot in one of the pulverized towns.

Dressed in the blue work clothes that have become almost a uniform for officials, Kan stopped in Rikuzentakata, where the town hall is one of the few buildings still standing. All its windows are blown out and a tangle of metal and other debris is piled in front of it.

The prime minister bowed his head for a minute of silence in front of the building. He met with the town's mayor, whose 38-year-old wife was swept away in the wave and is still missing. Officials fear about 25,000 people may have been killed, many of whose bodies have not been found.

"The government fully supports you until the end," Kan later told 250 people at an elementary school that is serving as an evacuation center.

Megumi Shimanuki, whose family is living in a similar shelter 100 miles (160 kilometers) away in Natori, said Kan didn't spend enough time with people on the ground. Kan returned to Tokyo in the afternoon.

Japan considers wider nuclear evacuation zone
Apr 7 08:04 AM US/Eastern

Japan said Thursday it is considering expanding the area covered by a compulsory evacuation order, with no immediate end in sight to the world's worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl.

snip

Evacuation orders are currently issued when residents are at risk of receiving radiation of at least 50 millisieverts, but the government said that arrangement assumed only brief exposure.

"The standard does not take into account the effects of accumulative exposure," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said. "We are discussing what standards to use for accumulative radiation."

Preliminary reports of 2 - 7.4 EQ's in Japan, just coming in. CNN is reporting one EQ, but USGS seems to say there were 2 - waiting for clarification. I think there was only one - not sure why USGS lists two with different times and coordinates.

MAP 7.4 2011/04/07 14:32:42 38.253 141.640 25.6 NEAR THE EAST COAST OF HONSHU, JAPAN
MAP 7.4 2011/04/07 14:32:00 38.200 142.000 40.0 NEAR THE EAST COAST OF HONSHU, JAPAN

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/ ... es_big.php

Specifically off the coast of Miyagi, Japan. Tsunami warning issued for northeast Japan.

edited to add that all evidence points to one EQ of 7.4 magnitude at a depth of 15.9mi.

Earthquake now downgraded to a 7.1. First tsunami wave has come ashore, estimated at 1 meter.

Workers were evacuated from the nuclear plant, so far there is believed to have been no additional damage. All workers are safe.

EQ struck near Sendai again.

Japan to evacuate more towns around crippled nuclear plant

Tokyo (CNN) -- Japan's government Monday called for evacuations for several towns beyond the danger zone already declared around the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, warning that residents could receive high doses of radiation over the coming months. :hmm

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said the municipalities are likely to see long-term radiation levels that exceed international safety standards, and he warned that the month-old crisis at Fukushima Daiichi was not yet over.

"Things are relatively more stable, and things are stabilizing," he said. "However, we need to be ready for the possibility that things may turn for the worse." :hmm

And minutes after he spoke, a fresh earthquake rattled the country, forcing workers to evacuate the plant and knocking out power to the three damaged reactors for about 40 minutes, said the plant's owner, the Tokyo Electric Power Company. The magnitude-6.6 tremor came a month to the day after the magnitude-9 quake and tsunami that knocked out the plant's cooling systems and followed one of the same size Thursday night. :hmm

More on leaking radiation (hope I'm not duplicating; I haven't had a chance to watch the videos)

Fukushima update: TEPCO admits radiation leaks will continue for at least three more months, maybe longer

(NaturalNews) Thanks to an announcement by TEPCO, we now have a "target date" for addressing the radiation leaks from Fukushima. Believe it or not, TEPCO now says it plans to "reduce" the radiation leaking within three months. Notice that there is no admitted goal of "ending" the radiation within three months; just reducing it. So a drop in radiation of one percent would qualify as meeting this goal.

This is basically a blatant admission that the radiation leaks are going to continue way beyond 90 days.

TEPCO also says it now plans to cool the spent fuel rods within nine months. They're now basically shooting for the end of the year to try to make this happen. (http://www.usatoday.com/money/topst...)
