With global tensions ready to build for 2-weeks from about October 25th on, one of the possibilities we've been watching - thanks to the heads-up predictive linguistics reports from www.halfpasthuman.com has been for something that will arise out of the global population portion of modelspace and which will be mainly economic in its impacts. Lots of things come to mind, but the recent increase in Pacific Plate earthquakes has been a particular worry, since a 8-or higher earthquake could do serious damage around the Pacific Rim depending on tsunami activities and such. So it's with this in mind that I just got a 'jaw dropper" from our Indonesia correspondent:

"George,

The BMG (Indonesian analogue to USGS) [http://www.bmg.go.id/depan.bmkg] has issued a rather specific warning for this coming Saturday, of a quake in the 8-8.5 range. Don't know how much stock I personally put in such a warning, but I will load up on supplies and stay at ground level for the weekend.

I guess we will all know the results come Monday...if the rest of the world doesn't fall apart by then.

Sampai jumpa,

Obviously we hope the warning is a false alarm, but when government seismographers issue a report like this, I tend to pay attention. Time to short insurance stocks?

Thanks for the heads up, BB!! :awe

To heck with the stock market; head for high ground if you live on the Pacific coast - at least check your preps and have car ready to go, gassed up etc. Anybody seen BG? Never mind; I'll go tweet him.

I am NOT disputing it but I wonder just how acurate that gragh really is :hmm :sherlock
After a second look it looks questionable.

IMHO once we round 2010 the gragh should settle down into a tenyear senario.
To me this is showing all recent activity in a 10 year span in a blown up area.

Once Jan 2011 comes around that section of the gragh will be back down along the same lines as the rest of the gragh averages out and 2011 will spark a new area of the gragh

I could be wrong obvioulsy, hopefully :scared :awe

I think your on to something L, our TV news stated that there was no increase in the amount of earthquakes, just in our knowledge of them. While the graph looks terrifying, it must be wrong. Or else someone is trying to keep us calm and this graph shouldn't have been made public??

Go back to the link recall posted above. This is what you will see:

The earthquakes that correspond to the graph are listed by date order.

BTW - the earliest one is

Following the Caribean Plate to the West, the pressure on the Cuban Event make another Quake on the boundaries of the North American Plate and the Caribean Plate in Guatemala some time later:

just for kicks i went to the site recall posted. interested in the theory that giant CME's influence earthquakes, i checked for the infamous Sept 1, 1859 CME that melted telegraph wires.

the first previous quake to the CME was:
1857 12 16 - Naple, Italy - M 6.9

the first quake after the CME is:
1865 08 17 Memphis, Tennessee - M 5.0

the giant monster didn't trigger any quakes?
fwiw.

You know what I noticed is that the previous quake was 2 years before and the one after was 7 years later. Now we have more instruments to record earthquakes today, especially the small ones most don't hear of, but still there are sure alot more of the large ones today!!

Strong earthquake hits PhilippinesBy the CNN Wire Staff
March 25, 2010 2:39 a.m. EDT

(CNN) -- A strong earthquake struck the Philippines early Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The 6.1 magnitude quake hit in the Mindoro region of the Philippines. The epicenter was about 86 miles (139 km) from the capital, Manila, and was about 72 kilometers (45 miles) deep, the USGS said.

The quake was felt in Quezon City on the island of Luzon and also in the Lubang Island, the Philippine News Agency reported.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Mysterious boom in Portland #PDXblast and strange lights in the sky over central CA. Hope it's not a megaquake coming

No Word On Cause Of Loud Boom In Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Emergency dispatchers in the Portland area received several reports of a loud boom Sunday evening.

The FOX 12 newsroom also received numerous calls from people reporting what sounded like an explosion. The reports came from as far east as Boring and as far north as Vancouver.

The source of the boom is unknown. Jim Todd, of the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry, said the explosion was likely not a fireball.

"Certainly a fireball can produce such an explosion and be heard for miles in cloudy conditions," Todd said in a news release. "What is missing is the positive visual sighting reports."

Todd said radar has yet to reveal a fireball.

The Portland International Airport did not report anything in the area that would have created a sonic boom.

Representatives with the United States Navy and the Oregon National Guard also said they had no information on what may have caused the noise.

Fort Lewis Army Base and the McChord Air Force base were also unaware of anything that could have created the boom.

I couldn't find anything on the lights in the sky in CA. I'll keep looking for that.
