Post Solar Heating & Cooling
Someone earler on the Food Storage Thread asked what I plan on doing if we lose power & or Gas to heat in the winter, well I live in the great white north so if either of these issues happen I could be in serious trouble.

A while ago I saw a video on YouTube about a Pop Can Heater and I had planned on making one this fall.

So I was doing some research etc and I cam across this guys YouTube Video, seems he just saved me a TON of work, it really does seem this simple although I think I am going to modify mine a bit so that it hold the heat longer.

The other downside is this will NOT work at night so I still have to come up with a plan for that other than cuddle power of course :roflmao

Anyways check this out, it's pretty cool and I plan on making TWO for my office window which faces south..

I wonder if we should make a new thread for survival issues such as shelter & heating etc :hmm

I am going to try the above Heater with some sand in each can (in the hopes that it will retain the heat LONGER) and see just how long after sundown this will actually work, this really is a cheap experiment, unlike some of my other ones :roflmao

I also plan on one small solar panal and a DC Fan to draw the cool air through the system to be heated and blown back out as hot or warm.

Anyone see an issue with using this type of styrofoam?

The reason I like this concept is that it's REALLY light IE: portable if needed :hmm ;)
