:heart Grist!

Folks here in H town are FREAKING OUT! Several schools have lost power as have several neighborhoods and the "snowpocalypse" forecast for Thursday/Friday hasn't arrived yet.

It's not often we see this (but February is THE month for it):

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
1138 AM CST WED FEB 2 2011

..WINTER STORM WATCH ISSUED FOR ALL OF SE TX...

DISCUSSION...
COLD AIRMASS SETTLING INTO SE TX THIS MORNING WITH A 1045 MB HIGH
BUILDING SOUTH THROUGH THE PLAINS. VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY
SHOWS SOME CLEARING ACROSS THE CENTRAL THIRD OF THE AREA. DESPITE
THE CLEARING...TEMPS HAVE WARMED VERY LITTLE SO FAR THIS
MORNING...STILL RUNNING IN THE LOW/MID 20S IN MOST LOCATIONS. HAVE
LOWERED MAX TEMPS ACROSS THE AREA. THE NORTHERN 2/3 OF SE TX WILL
LIKELY STAY BELOW FREEZING ALL AFTN...WITH TEMPS ONLY RISING ABOVE
FREEZING FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS OVER THE SOUTH. AS A RESULT...HAVE
RECONFIGURED THE HARD FREEZE WARNING TO JUST CONTINUE FROM NOW
THROUGH NOON ON THURSDAY.

DUE TO INCREASING CONFIDENCE IN THE FORECAST...HAVE DECIDED TO
ISSUE A WINTER STORM WATCH FOR ALL OF THE CWA FROM 18Z THURSDAY
THROUGH 18Z FRIDAY. TWO PRIMARY CHANGES HAVE BEEN NOTED IN THE
LAST FEW MODEL RUNS. THE MODELS ARE TRENDING FASTER WITH THE
MOVEMENT OF THE APPROACHING UPPER LOW...NOW SHOWING THE ONSET OF
PRECIP ON THURSDAY AFTN. THE SECOND CHANGE IS A WARM LAYER ALOFT
THAT IS PRESENT IN THE RECENT MODEL FORECAST SOUNDINGS...WHICH
SUGGESTS A THREAT OF FREEZING RAIN OVER THE SE THIRD OF THE AREA.
CURRENT THINKING IS AN ALL SNOW EVENT FOR THE NW HALF OF THE
CWA...WITH A MIX OF SNOW AND SLEET FURTHER SOUTH AND EAST. WE ARE
PLACING THE WESTERN EDGE OF THE THREAT OF FREEZING RAIN FROM
MATAGORDA TO DOWNTOWN HOUSTON TO RYE IN LIBERTY COUNTY. FOR THE
COASTAL SECTIONS OF BRAZORIA COUNTY...THROUGH GALVESTON...
CHAMBERS...AND LIBERTY COUNTIES THIS IS LOOKING LIKE PRIMARILY AN
ICE EVENT

snip

:awe :why

I was all pumped for some SNOW - but ICE :noway :scared

Oh well, guess I will be joining ya at home Thursday/Friday for that cuppa, Grist!

'Mass devastation': Cyclone Yasi hits Australia
'People are facing some really dreadful hours in front of them,' prime minister says

updated 2 hours 11 minutes ago 2011-02-02T16:43:36
Share Print Font: + - CAIRNS, Australia — The destructive core of one of the most powerful cyclones in Australia's history battered its northeastern coast early Thursday, wrenching roofs off buildings and cutting power to tens of thousands of homes.

The eye of Cyclone Yasi was passing over the town of Tully after coming ashore at Mission Beach in northern Queensland.

Local official Ross Sorbello told The Sydney Morning Herald that the storm tore the roof off his mother's home in Tully, where he rode out the storm.

"We are talking about a pretty strong brick house that was built in the 70s, so God help us in the morning when we look at some of the older places," he told the newspaper.

"It is just a scene of mass devastation," he added. :candle

Hello everyone,

Clif High's interview on interview on Alien Addictions dated 15th January this year may be of interest.

I found it to be somewhat enlightening (a real 'heads up').

Topics looked at include climatic change, the fish / bird die-offs, crustal displacement, the expanding Earth, the change in the orbit, the periodic need for changes to the calendar, imminent famine and more.

It is a 72mb download.

The period 35 minutes to the end contain the meaty stuff. The crustal displacement info is 50 minutes in, with the 'falling stars' info a few minutes later. Its a real event, which we might experience too (not 100% certain) as Clif explains.

At times it IS doomy, but whats said really does need to be heard.

Its probably best to download and then listen.

Wishing everyone well in these weather related trying times.

Simon

Hi,yeah, all good here.
Cyclone Yasi is still a category 2 cyclone and storming across inland areas of north Queensland. It turned south before hitting the coast, saving Cairns but destroying many buildings in Tully and other towns between Cairns and Townsville. Some small communities haven't been heard from yet. No reports of deaths or even any major injuries so far.

Good to hear from you, Rick! I hope the good news about deaths/major injuries continues.

Take care!

Thank you Bluebonnet.
I'll just mention the flooding involved because that might be related to other issues. There are reports that the Bruce Highway is underwater in places, the tide came five metres higher than normal.

Released from work at 3:00 pm today. :elephant :banana :brockoli

Continental Airlines ceased flying at 3:00 pm as did most other airlines flying into Bush. Hobby Airport will cease operations at 6:15 pm CT.

East Texas has made a huge pot of chili and some cornbread. :tounge

Big fire in the fireplace - the weiner dogs are loving it!

So basically, we are hunkered down just waiting for the snow/sleet. Forecast for us is 1-3 inches of snow/sleet combined by morning. :awe

It is 34 degrees F with a wind chill of 19! WHOA!!!!!!

Let's hope it is just snow - no sleet/ice. :heart

My MFing institution is open for "normal" business operations today. :sarcasism

Like patients are gonna show up? I don't even work with patients - don't you feel sorry for me? :spit :crylaugh

It is 29 degrees F at my house with freezing rain/sleet.

The City of Houston is closed.

Harris County offices - closed.

Schools and airports - closed.

Mayor was pleading with folks to stay home last night. Uh NOT!

Every single freeway here is iced over with multiple accidents.

Fools - ya can't DRIVE ON ICE! WTF is WRONG with these folks?

Looks like we will attempt it at noon or so. We should be at 32 degrees at noon today. :gah

Twatwaffles all! :offtobed

Leo posted an interesting article in our Climate Change section

Leorising wrote:

Quite an interesting article...
not sure how to post it with all the pictures....

Magnetic Polar Shifts Causing Massive Global Superstorms
Terrence Aym Salem-News.com
Superstorms can also cause certain societies, cultures or whole countries to collapse. Others may go to war with each other.

(CHICAGO) - NASA has been warning about it…scientific papers have been written about it…geologists have seen its traces in rock strata and ice core samples…
Now "it" is here: an unstoppable magnetic pole shift that has sped up and is causing life-threatening havoc with the world's weather.
Forget about global warming—man-made or natural—what drives planetary weather patterns is the climate and what drives the climate is the sun's magnetosphere and its electromagnetic interaction with a planet's own magnetic field.
When the field shifts, when it fluctuates, when it goes into flux and begins to become unstable anything can happen. And what normally happens is that all hell breaks loose.
Magnetic polar shifts have occurred many times in Earth's history. It's happening again now to every planet in the solar system including Earth.
The magnetic field drives weather to a significant degree and when that field starts migrating superstorms start erupting.

The superstorms have arrived
The first evidence we have that the dangerous superstorm cycle has started is the devastating series of storms that pounded the UK during late 2010.

On the heels of the lashing the British Isles sustained, monster storms began to lash North America. The latest superstorm—as of this writing—is a monster over the U.S. that stretched across 2,000 miles affecting more than 150 million people.
Yet even as that storm wreaked havoc across the Western, Southern, Midwestern and Northeastern states, another superstorm broke out in the Pacific and closed in on Australia.

The southern continent had already dealt with the disaster of historic superstorm flooding from rains that dropped as much as several feet in a matter of hours. Tens of thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed. After the deluge tiger sharks were spotted swimming between houses in what was once a quiet suburban neighborhood.
Shocked authorities now numbly concede that much of the water may never dissipate and have wearily resigned themselves to the possibility that region will now contain a new inland sea.

But then only a handful of weeks later another superstorm—the megamonster cyclone Yasi—struck northeastern Australia. The damage it left in its wake is being called by rescue workers a war zone.
The incredible superstorm packed winds near 190mph. Although labeled as a category-5 cyclone, it was theoretically a category-6. The reason for that is storms with winds of 155mph are considered category-5, yet Yasi was almost 22 percent stronger than that.
A cat's cradle

Yet Yasi may only be a foretaste of future superstorms. Some climate researchers, monitoring the rapidly shifting magnetic field, are predicting superstorms in the future with winds as high as 300 to 400mph.
Such storms would totally destroy anything they came into contact with on land.
The possibility more storms like Yasi or worse will wreak havoc on our civilization and resources is found in the complicated electromagnetic relationship between the sun and Earth. The synergistic tug-of-war has been compared by some to an intricately constructed cat's cradle. And it's in a constant state of flux.
The sun's dynamic, ever-changing electric magnetosphere interfaces with the Earth's own magnetic field affecting, to a degree, the Earth's rotation, precessional wobble, dynamics of the planet's core, its ocean currents and—above all else—the weather.
Cracks in Earth's Magnetic Shield
The Earth's northern magnetic pole was moving towards Russia at a rate of about five miles annually. That progression to the East had been happening for decades.
Suddenly, in the past decade the rate sped up. Now the magnetic pole is shifting East at a rate of 40 miles annually, an increase of 800 percent. And it continues to accelerate.
Recently, as the magnetic field fluctuates, NASA has discovered "cracks" in it. This is worrisome as it significantly affects the ionosphere, troposphere wind patterns, and atmospheric moisture. All three things have an effect on the weather.
Worse, what shields the planet from cancer-causing radiation is the magnetic field. It acts as a shield deflecting harmful ultra-violet, X-rays and other life-threatening radiation from bathing the surface of the Earth. With the field weakening and cracks emerging, the death rate from cancer could skyrocket and mutations of DNA can become rampant.
Another federal agency, NOAA, issued a report caused a flurry of panic when they predicted that mammoth superstorms in the future could wipe out most of California. The NOAA scientists said it's a plausible scenario and would be driven by an "atmospheric river" moving water at the same rate as 50 Mississippi rivers flowing into the Gulf of Mexico.
Magnetic field may dip, flip and disappear
The Economist wrote a detailed article about the magnetic field and what's happening to it. In the article they noted:

"There is, however, a growing body of evidence that the Earth's magnetic field is about to disappear, at least for a while. The geological record shows that it flips from time to time, with the south pole becoming the north, and vice versa. On average, such reversals take place every 500,000 years, but there is no discernible pattern. Flips have happened as close together as 50,000 years, though the last one was 780,000 years ago. But, as discussed at the Greenland Space Science Symposium, held in Kangerlussuaq this week, the signs are that another flip is coming soon."
Discussing the magnetic polar shift and the impact on weather, the scholarly paper "Weather and the Earth's magnetic field" was published in the journal Nature. Scientists too are very concerned about the increasing danger of superstorms and the impact on humanity.

Superstorms will not only damage agriculture across the planet leading to famines and mass starvation, they will also change coastlines, destroy cities and create tens of millions of homeless.
Superstorms can also cause certain societies, cultures or whole countries to collapse. Others may go to war with each other.
A Danish study published in the scientific journal Geology, found strong correlation between climate change, weather patterns and the magnetic field.
"The earth's climate has been significantly affected by the planet's magnetic field, according to a Danish study published Monday that could challenge the notion that human emissions are responsible for global warming.
"'Our results show a strong correlation between the strength of the earth's magnetic field and the amount of precipitation in the tropics,' one of the two Danish geophysicists behind the study, Mads Faurschou Knudsen of the geology department at Aarhus University in western Denmark, told the Videnskab journal.
"He and his colleague Peter Riisager, of the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS), compared a reconstruction of the prehistoric magnetic field 5,000 years ago based on data drawn from stalagmites and stalactites found in China and Oman."
In the scientific paper "Midday magnetopause shifts earthward of geosynchronous orbit during geomagnetic superstorms with Dst = -300 nT" the magnetic intensity of solar storms impacting Earth can intensify the effects of the polar shift and also speed up the frequency of the emerging superstorms.
Pole reversal may also be initiating new Ice Age
According to some geologists and scientists, we have left the last interglacial period behind us. Those periods are lengths of time—about 11,500 years—between major Ice Ages.
One of the most stunning signs of the approaching Ice Age is what's happened to the world's precessional wobble.
The Earth's wobble has stopped
As explained in the geology and space science website earthchangesmedia.com, "The Chandler wobble was first discovered back in 1891 by Seth Carlo Chandler an American astronomer.
The effect causes the Earth's poles to move in an irregular circle of 3 to 15 meters in diameter in an oscillation. The Earth's Wobble has a 7-year cycle which produces two extremes, a small spiraling wobble circle and a large spiraling wobble circle, about 3.5 years apart.
"The Earth was in October 2005 moving into the small spiraling circle (the MIN phase of the wobble), which should have slowly unfolded during 2006 and the first few months of 2007. (Each spiraling circle takes about 14 months). But suddenly at the beginning of November 2005, the track of the location of the spin axis veered at a very sharp right angle to its circling motion.
"The track of the spin axis began to slow down and by about January 8, 2006, it ceased nearly all relative motion on the x and y coordinates which are used to define the daily changing location of the spin axis."
And the Earth stopped wobbling—exactly as predicted as another strong sign of an imminent Ice Age.
So, the start of a new Ice Age is marked by a magnetic pole reversal, increased volcanic activity, larger and more frequent earthquakes, tsunamis, colder winters, superstorms and the halting of the Earth's precessional wobble.
Unfortunately, all of those conditions are being met.

The one quote from the article posted by Leo that caught my eye is the following.
Referring to Australia, the article states, "Shocked authorities now numbly concede that much of the water may never dissipate and have wearily resigned themselves to the possibility that region will now contain a new inland sea."

If it's just heavy rains from superstorms, shouldn't this new "inland sea" eventually dissipate once the dry season arrives?

BB, I feel for you; I experienced my first snow in Texas in 1970, in Corpus Christi. It lasted about 15 minutes and stayed on the ground about 30 minutes. It was a major shock to the city! They didn't close the schools or anything, but it was that rare. Today the Weather Channel showed a huge sheaf of ice sliding off the Cowboys stadium, where the Superbowl will be held tomorrow. Major snowstorms hitting Texas, the likes of which usually only happen in the North.

Naturally all is normal, just "weather", right? Right. :roll Or maybe caused by a CME or 2?

Uh-uh.

Today's ZT actually had a response to my question about the mass meeting of US ambassadors; Hillary called them all back to DC for the first-ever face-to-face conference of that size. Something wasn't right, so here's their response:

--------------------------------------------------------------

(responding to the article from
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/3 ... or-meeting

Can the zetas comment as to whether this might finally signal a crack in the Coverup, or at least a new tack, knowing as they do what is coming and what is happening even now, in the Pacific? Will this be a strategy session to help the area governments deal with the ensuing unrest and dislocation for their citizens, or is it simply a response to what's happening in Egypt?

SOZT
Where this invitation has come just after the Egyptian protests emerged, it in fact has almost nothing to do with recent events in the Middle East. It has to do with the steady sinking in Indonesia, in accordance with our predictions, and where this is leading. The implications are immense. Most of our predictions made during the 15 years that ZetaTalk has been a presence on the web are still far in the future. The hour of the pole shift, the last weeks, and the remaining 7 of 10 scenarios – these are all in the future. What is known is that ZetaTalk was accurate about when and where Planet X would enter the inner solar system in 2003, and the many predictions on erratic weather, the Earth wobble, and increasing earthquakes and volcanic activity. But the hope of those in power has always been that our predictions would prove extreme, and the passage would not have the impact on the Earth that we predicted.

The 7 of 10 scenarios were the first time since 2003 that one of our predictions was dated, and very specific about the degree of impact. When the end of December, 2010 arrived with only the start of sinking, this hope was still held. As we have explained, undulating plates have delayed the rapid sinking we predicted, but sinking is still steadily occurring, and will not stop until the result we predicted has been reached. Wave after wave of sinking has occurred, all without remission. It has reached the point where mass evacuation of citizens from the affected areas has begun, and is admitted in the press. The point the establishment hoped to avoid, explaining all this to the public and preparing for the rest of the 7 of 10 scenarios, must at last be faced.

Wikileaks has been known to leak State Department memos, so on the issue of the passage and ZetaTalk accuracy and predictions, communications CAN ONLY be done via face-to-face conferences. The official US position and policy will be explained in this manner. And what might that be? To deny the presence of a rogue planet in the inner solar system, until such point as the White House decides otherwise; to parse out any explanations demanded of them to the scientific community, who have already been expressing confusion and spreading disinformation; and by this to avoid engaging the situation. In accordance with what Obama is already relaying to heads of state, the issue of rescue by immigration to the US is firm – no change in the immigration laws, no special exceptions to be made. Embassies are often the site where immigration demands are presented, so are being braced to expect this, and to resist.
EOZT

Sounds logical to me. Anyone have any provable contradictory reason?

{BTW, here's some data that I'm trying to corroborate about numbers of evacuees....in today's ZT newsletter, emailed but should be on the ZT site by tomorrow.}

Sinking DeepensSinking in all countries residing on the plate tongue holding Indonesia proceeds apace. There is wide variance in reporting, some countries like Malaysia and the Philippines allowing the press to inform the people, others like Indonesia in almost complete suppression of the facts. New sinking is occurring in Malaysia, along the western coast of the Malay peninsula and on the northern edge of the island of Borneo, as these news articles reflecting the status as revealed by the press through February 3, 2011 show. The Malaysian authorities assert the sinking of the coastline at Sulawesi is due to "abrasion" of the beach, but on the Malay penninsula, admits the flooding is due to a "rise in sea level". The word "sinking" is taboo.

Sorry Don but the Zetas just keep extending their dates and making excuses as to why their dates don't ever come true...

I am on record for not buying into NL and I don't buy into your theory that those "Silly Zeta's" are playing with us a little longer excuse either.

I appreciate your message of Prepare and be Aware and I will continue to promote that but I am officially OFF THE FENCE with you, NL and the Zetas.

I am putting myself out there as Site Admin and I am saying that I think it's all BUNK.

I will be the first one to say that I am WRONG should anything happen but at least I won't be the one moving goal posts and making NEW Dates all the while writing new excuses like the Zeta's :crazy
