Yep, it's that time of year, again.
I'm pouring over web sites, food blogs, pinterest, and cookbooks looking for ideas.
Yeah - right! Like I could change anything on my table. Tried that several years ago and East Texas and the kids were like WUHT?
I so remember the simpler days of Thanksgiving when it was only turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, fruit salad, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, apple pie, pecan pie and pumpkin pie.
Sigh!
Then along came children's spouses and grandchildren!
So
this is my Thanksgiving menu this year:
Turkey
Dressing - 6 of mine will not eat this
Giblet Gravy - 4 of mine will not eat this
Cranberry Sauce
Ham - 5 of mine will not eat this
Macaroni & Cheese - youngest grandson will
only eat this
Mashed Potatoes - 5 of mine will eat this
Corn - 2 of mine eat this on top of the mashed potatoes like gravy
Black Eyed Peas - 6 of mine will not eat this
Broccoli - 6 of mine
will eat this - but I am putting the hoo doo on this as the broccoli is not (yet) ready from the garden & I haven't yet figured out how I will steam it with a stove full of pots!
Potato Salad - East Texas is insisting!
"I can't eat ham with potato salad"
Rolls
Sweet Potatoes & Apples - only 2 of us eat this but, again, it's that East Texas thang!
Deviled Eggs
Relish Plate
Fruit Salad - oldest grandson only eats the bananas
Apple Pie - for DS because this is the only dessert he eats!
Pumpkin Pie
Pecan Pie - DD's favorite (and mine)
Brownies - because DSIL and youngest grandson will only eat this for dessert
Cool Whip
Ice tea
Coffee
I have revolted this year and am actually buying the pies 'cause this ole gal has more than enough cooking to do (and 4 grandkids coming to the house on Sunday).
What's your plan for Thanksgiving?
C'mon down if y'all are hungry! We will have plenty (trust me on THAT one)!
Oh and for lunch on Friday? Turkey Bone Gumbo!
(with leftover potato salad)!
