Netherlands: Q-Fever - 1000s of Goats will be slaughtered
Q-Fever, or Queensland-Fever is caused by "Coxiella burnetii", a bacterium restistant to heat, drying and many commonly used desinfectants and resists for a long time in soil.
It is spread by sputum, dust, raw milk products and can cause flu-like symptoms, pneumonia and hepatitis.
It can be treated with antibiotics (or other, alternative medicine, like silver colloid, f.e. :-)
http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/content/id/1769.aspxThe bad thing :
As in the 80ies with cows, many goats will be slaughtered without being tested. At begin of 2010 10% of the 374 000 goats-herd will be exterminated through poison.
Q-Fever is not new in Netherlands, but the rise of human infection is significant between 2007 - 2009: 168 - 2300
