Looks like it's time to get this party started.

Hurricane Hunters are currently flying to Invest 90L located between Cuba and Cancun, MX.

1. THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE NEAR THE

DATA FROM MEXICO SUGGESTS THAT A CIRCULATION COULD BE FORMING ABOUT

TROPICAL DEPRESSION COULD DEVELOP LATER TODAY. INTERESTS IN THE

SCHEDULED TO INVESTIGATE THIS SYSTEM LATER TODAY.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE

FORECASTER BEVEN

Checked a couple of Hurricane forums this morning and the models are guessing (at this time)

Corpus Christi, TX - Port O'Connor, TX (watch out Barb)

Upper Texas Coast - possibly direct hit on Galveston Island.

:gah :censor :censor :censor

Sooooo - still a long ways out and a lot of prep work left to do - like clean out the garage so I can get my new pickup in there. :embarressed

Hurricane hunters should be there about 1:30 pm EDT today so we should know shortly thereafter whether we have a tropical depression or a tropical storm.

Best guess now is a Category 1 hurricane will hit the Texas Coast sometime this weekend. :(

The good news - we could use the rain! :lol

Tropical Storm Don

(CNN) -- Forecasters expanded a tropical storm watch along the Texas coast early Thursday as Tropical Storm Don made its way into the central Gulf of Mexico.

The fourth named storm of the 2011 Atlantic hurricane season was about about 635 miles (1025 km) east-southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas, at 5 a.m. ET, the National Hurricane center said. It was moving to the west-northwest at nearly 10 mph (17 kph).

A tropical storm watch means tropical storm conditions are possible in the area within 48 hours. The watch is in place from the mouth of the Rio Grande northward to near San Luis Pass. Darn - just West of me. Barbarian should get some rain, though.

Tropical storm force winds extended up to 45 miles (75 km) from the storm's center.

"This general motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through Friday," the center said. "Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours."

An Air Force reconnaissance plane is scheduled to check Don at daybreak.

If it continues on its projected path, the storm should make landfall along the Texas coast Saturday morning.

Latest on Don: Will it strengthen? And will we get some rain?

The National Hurricane Center’s latest advisory for Tropical Storm Don has brought the track slightly northward, but the system still appears to be on course for a landfall near Corpus Christi late Friday or early Saturday.

We haven’t seen much strengthening in the system during the overnight hours because its southern feeder rainbands were over the Yucatan Peninsula.

That is now changing, and we should see some modest intensification during the next 36 hours. It’s possible a small hurricane could develop before moving inland.

Post Re: Tropical Storm Don
This is the one storm folks all along the Texas coast have been praying for. Sigh - sadly it will miss me.

Don offers little hope of relief from drought :(

Tropical Storm Don continued to zip toward the lower Texas coast Thursday while changing little in intensity.

Because Don remained a fairly small system and could come ashore near or to the south of Corpus Christi, it's not clear whether the Houston area will receive significant rain from the system later today.

Most areas probably will get less than 1 inch of rain if the current forecast track holds, hardly enough to make a dent in the region's drought.

Other than rain chances of 50 to 60 percent across the metro area — and higher to the southwest of the city - Don's impact on Houston is expected to be minimal, with a slight chance of tropical storm-force winds out of the southeast and seas 1 to 2 feet higher than normal off Galveston.

That could change, the National Weather Service said, if Don makes a more northerly turn toward Matagorda Bay.

But that did not appear likely on Thursday night.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said they believed the storm would come ashore somewhere along the Texas coast between Matagorda Bay and just north of Brownsville, with Corpus Christi the most likely location.
