Alkaline Foods and Diets, and a Healthier Lifestyle
An Alkaline diet and lifestyle is the best way to experience optimal health, vitality and energy. Western diets are high in acid-forming foods, resulting in poor health results for most people. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in 2008 heart disease and cancers were the leading cause of death in this country. Also 50% of adult Australians are overweight and 50% experience cancer at some stage in their life. Now more than ever it is important for people to take steps to manage and maintain their health.
Well Duh!
The main foods to include in an Alkaline diet are:
Vegetables, especially green vegetables
Grasses such as wheat and barley grass
Low sugar fruits (lemons, limes, grapefruit, avocados and tomatoes)
Fresh herbs
Alkaline water
Alkaline supplements (such as pHour salts)
Grains such as buckwheat, millet and quinoa
some nuts and seeds (better when soaked)
COOL!
Natural Minty thick shake
1/3-1/2 of a Cucumber
Juice 1/2 lemon or 1 lime
1 creamy avocado
1 cup raw baby spinach

Coconut without thickeners)

http://www.smarterhealth.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=15014 ice cubes (optional)
Combine all ingredients and blend to desired consistency. Variation: Leave out the ice cubes, and freeze malt into pops.
After blending you can also add as a topping: 1 tbl spoon each of ground (I use a coffee grinder) flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, Chia seeds and one or two of each of the following nuts: Almonds, Brazil, Macadamia, Walnut, Hazelnut etc.1 tbls of psyllium husks can be added to thicken up the shake. Sometimes I also add as a topping 1/2 of a lemon (with skin) and 2 tablespoons of olive oil blended together.
